ISLAMABAD, June 12, 2025 – Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a major oil and gas discovery from its exploratory operations at the Faakir-1 well, situated in the Bitrisim Exploration License area, Khairpur district, Sindh.
Joint Venture and Ownership
The well is operated by OGDCL, holding a 95% working interest, in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which retains the remaining 5% stake.
Drilling Details
Spud on December 31, 2024, as an exploratory well, Faakir-1 was drilled to a total depth of 4,185 meters in the Sembar Formation. The drilling operation was carried out using OGDCL’s in-house expertise, in close coordination with the Joint Venture partner.
Test Results and Production Rates
After evaluating wireline log results, two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were performed in the Lower Goru Formation, focusing on the Massive Sand and Basal Sand intervals. The cumulative test results revealed:
- 6.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD)
- 55 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate
The production was achieved using a 32/64″ choke.
