As of December 26, 2023, Active Taxpayers List (ATL) of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reached 5.3 million filers.

According to income tax revised ATL, the number of individual taxpayers has reportedly surpassed 3.69 million.

According to data from income tax bureau, there are 1.67 million corporate/association of persons (AOPs) under the ATL.

A tax expert has raised questions that (i); How much tax paid by new filers?

(ii) What is the number of total filers for tax year 2023?

(iii) Why still higher tax collected from non-filers despite crackdown against non-filers?

There are 11.4 million people enrolled, but not all of them are filing income tax returns, according to information provided by the chairman of the Federal Bureau of Revenue to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue.

Income Tax Reruns

More than 2.9 million income tax returns for the tax year 2023 through October 31, 2023, have received by the FBR.

Up until October 2022, the tax authority received nearly 2.5 million returns last year.

Up until September 30, 2023, the FBR had received 1.93 million income tax returns, up from 1.87 million the previous year and representing a 0.06 million increase.
