New Sabzi Mandi in Karachi becomes a fish farm due to heavy rainfall

Another round of intense monsoon rains that have flooded neighborhoods and businesses in Karachi, caused property damage and interfered with the city’s electricity and communications networks. The city’s minor dams spilled as a result of the severe monsoon period, causing water to flood low-lying regions. Additionally, Karachi’s new Sabzi Mandi was transformed into a fish farm, with citizens seen fishing there.

Small dams overflowed as a result of the water entering low-lying regions, turning the area into a “fish farm,” and flooding the streets. People started catching fish as soon as they realized they were there in the water.

Several males can be seen in the video trying to collect fresh catch in all sizes and packing it in their clothing and polythene bags. The amount of fish anticipated to be in the floodwater ranges from four to eight inches.

However, Chief Meteorologist Karachi, Sardar Sarfaraz, indicated yesterday that the intense monsoon period is anticipated to weaken immediately. According to PMD statistics, the port city received 201 mm of rainfall.

The PMD representative has stated that the current spell will continue until today, July 26, nevertheless.

In order to prevent unpleasant situations in the province’s most populated districts, the Sindh provincial government also proclaimed a public holiday in the Karachi and Hyderabad divisions on Monday.
