New high excise duties affect business class flight costs

The government raised the excise duties on business class tickets. The new tax for 2023-24 is Rs. 350,000. This affects tickets for many overseas places. The new tax rates show big changes. These changes are for all types of tickets.

People traveling to the Middle East and Africa will pay Rs. 105,000. This includes places like Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Last year, they paid Rs. 75,000. The new tax is Rs. 30,000 higher.

Travelers to the US and Canada will pay Rs. 100,000. This amount is the same for business and club class tickets. For those going to North America, the tax is now Rs. 350,000. Last year, it was Rs. 250,000.

The tax for business and club class to Europe is Rs. 210,000. This is an increase of Rs. 60,000. The tax for New Zealand and Australia is also Rs. 210,000.

People traveling to China, Malaysia, and Indonesia will also pay more. The new tax for these countries is Rs. 210,000.

These changes affect many travelers. The higher taxes may make tickets cost more. People may need to plan for these higher costs.
