New Google AR tools for shoe and cosmetic products shopping

A new photo collection from Google features 148 AR models with a variety of skin tones, ages, genders, nationalities, complexion types, and face shapes.

Makeup users are all too familiar with the tedious experience of trying to find a foundation match online.

The tech titan announced a brand-new augmented reality (AR) shopping function on Thursday with the intention of making it easier for users to find a match.

In recent years, Google has made significant investments in its online commerce division as it seeks to take on Amazon.

The business has emphasized that it prefers to be viewed as a platform where customers can discover new products rather than as a merchant.

Users can search for foundation shades on Google across a range of prices and brands. (Google first states that there are 2,000 options.)

For instance, if a user wishes to see images of models wearing a particular shade of skin tone that like their own, they can key in “Armani Luminous Silk Foundation” and get before and after images.

After selecting a color, the customer can select a retailer to purchase from.

More than 60% of online beauty product shoppers, according to Google, decided not to buy because they were confused about the hue or tint to choose.

In addition, 41% of consumers have returned merchandise because it was the wrong hue.
