New ban in Isb and Punjab due to section 144 in Muharram

According to local news, the DC of Islamabad has enacted ban of gatherings by section 144 in preparation for Muharram-ul-Haram in order to maintain order and security throughout the holy month. Details indicate that a notification of the implementation of section 144 was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.

Also, on Wednesday the Punjab Home Department had implemented Section 144 throughout the province for the first ten days of the holy month of Muharram in an effort to maintain law and order.

The use of loudspeakers, displaying weapons or fireworks, distributing or printing abusive information, wall-chalking, and stone-crushing are all banned in Islamabad, according to the notification.

Islamabad will have ban of gatherings by section 144 in effect for two months beginning in Muharram

The Muharram moon has not been visible in Pakistan, hence the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee has announced that Youm-e-Ashur (Muharram 10) would be celebrated on Saturday, July 29.  The first day of Muharram will be on Thursday, July 20 (according to a statement released by the committee). Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, chairman of the committee, presided over the sighting meeting.

Maulana Azad, who made the revelation, claimed that zonal crescent sighting committee meetings had been held in every province, but that no evidence had been received from anywhere.

Mourning processions and majalis commemorating the deaths of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the other martyrs of Karbala, have begun in earnest with the sighting of the Muharram crescent.

The Youm-e-Ashure occurs on the tenth of Muharram, hence on the eve of this holiday, the federal and provincial administrations devise elaborate security preparations to ensure public order.
