Netflix lost chill better upgrade Or think goodbye

As Netflix phases out its most affordable ad-free subscription, members in the UK and Canada are growing increasingly frustrated.

Current Netflix Basic Plan

Due to this change, current Netflix basic plan customers. Are forced to choose between paying extra for a different subscription or cancelling their account entirely.

Users of the appropriately called “MildlyInfuriating” subreddit provided screenshots of a Netflix alert, providing evidence of the phase-out.

The notice asks users to select a new plan and alerts them. To the impending July 13th deadline for platform accessT

There are three options available: the $16.49 monthly Standard plan (probably ad-free).

The $5.99 monthly Standard with Ads plan, and the $20.99 monthly Premium subscription.

It should come as no surprise that this move by Netflix has caused a wave of dissatisfaction among users.

Disappointed With Netflix’s Direction

Many are so frustrated and disappointed with Netflix’s direction. That they are overflowing in the comments area of a social media post that highlights the move.

Although the message doesn’t specify the phase-out’s actual location, the image’s Canadian pricing indicates the person is most likely from Canada.

Netflix Subreddit

This is consistent with claims from the last two months on the Netflix subreddit, which state that the Basic plan is first going away in Canada and the UK.

Emails that a few of the social media pundits got serve as more proof of this.

These emails from Netflix inform users that their ad-free Basic plan is coming to an end and invite them to upgrade to a new subscription level.

Netflix’s Own Help Centre

Netflix’s own Help Centre provides even more evidence. It is now clearly stated on the “Plans and Pricing” websites for both the UK and Canada that “The Basic plan has been discontinued.”

There seems to be a phase-out taking place gradually. One person stated they had till June 8th to choose a new plan, while another user had until June 15th.

Since July 13th is the current cutoff date, it’s possible that another wave of customers will be impacted shortly.
