The National Command Operation Center (NCOC) has eventually decided on crowd participation in the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The forum had earlier allowed venues to be full to capacity for PSL 7 matches. However, due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in Karachi, the capacity for the Karachi leg has been reduced to 25%. A decision on the Lahore matches will be taken after an analysis of the situation.
Approximately 8,000 cricket fans would be allowed into the Karachi stadium for each match, according to the decision.
However, attendees will have to follow a strict COVID protocol to ensure their health and safety, as well as the health and safety of people attending the matches.
- All those over the age of 12 must be properly vaccinated.
- At the time of entry to the stadium, valid vaccination certificates must be presented.
- Masks are required to be worn by the attendees within the venue.
- Anyone who does not follow the NCOC rules will be escorted from the stadium.
The decision was reached during a meeting between PSL management and NCOC officials to assess the current COVID scenario in Karachi and Lahore, the two host cities for the PSL 7 season.
The PSL 7 season will begin on January 27 in Karachi. However, COVID-19 is resurgent in Karachi, with the positive ratio jumping to 40% on Tuesday, with 3,238 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
