The right-handed batsman helped the national team get off to a strong start by scoring a record-breaking maiden double-hundred in the opening innings.
The 23-year-old’s incredible innings made him the greatest run-scorer among visiting opening hitters at the legendary Sinhalese Sports Club. He is the highest run-scorer by an away team’s opening batter, surpassing Mohammad Hafeez, Justin Langer, and Shoaib Malik.

In the meantime, Abdullah Shafique made history at Sinhalese Sports Club by being the first opening batsman from an opposing team to reach a double hundred. Pakistan has a commanding lead of 305 runs in the first innings on day three of the last Test match, which is still in progress.
