Modern Warfare II made more money in its first three days on the market than any other title in the franchise’s 19-year history.
Today, we’re throwing over 40 graphics cards at this new Call of Duty game to see what kind of hardware you’ll need to achieve the frame rate you want.
The focus of this feature will be on GPU performance, and as usual, this isn’t a game review, but we’re here to talk about frame rates.
Unfortunately, when playing with friends, the party mode causes issues with members frequently crashing out in the menu or even in-game, so there’s a lot of work to be done in terms of stability, which is a shame given it’s not free to play.
Aside from the crashes, it’s a visually stunning game that’s a lot of fun to play, and I expect I’ll be spending a lot of time with it, as well as Warzone 2 when it comes out. Modern Warfare II’s PC version includes a plethora of graphical options to tweak and tune, including various presets and upscaling technologies, and developer Infinity Ward has included a very useful benchmark.
The built-in benchmark, which is part of the multiplayer portion of the game, does an excellent job of simulating the CPU and GPU load you’ll encounter when jumping into multiplayer battles. So, rather than manually benchmarking the multiplayer portion of the game, which is nearly impossible to do accurately, especially when compared to other hardware configurations, we’ll use the built-in benchmark.
