Mr. Yasin Lakhani, a former director and president of PSX, passed away in the UK today (Thursday, July, 21st, 2022) morning. Mr. Muhammad Yasin Lakhani hold the degrees of B.A. (Hons.) and Masters in International Relations. PSX confirmed the news through a tweet today.
His prior experience is indicative of his engagement in Pakistan’s financial markets, as he has served as Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange in the years 1994, 1998–1998, 2001, and 2005. In addition to the years mentioned above, he has also been chosen to serve as a director of KSE in 1969, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, and 2009.
Additionally, he held several leadership positions on the Exchange’s Advisory and Arbitration Committee, Administration Committee, Rules & Regulations Committee, Taxation Committee, Company Affairs Committee, and Defaulters’ Committee.
At the investment conferences held in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, and London, Mr. Lakhani represented Pakistan. Additionally, he represented Pakistan in the General Assembly of the Euro Asia Stock Markets, the Capital Marker Forum of Islamic Countries, and the Asia Pacific Forum on Securities Market Regulations & Supervision.
He was a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan’s Committee on Code of Corporate Governance.
He had been named to the Exchange’s Audit and HR Committees as well as Chairman of the Demutualization Committee.
Since January 2009, Mr. Lakhani has served as KSE’s representative on the board of the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited.
