Motorola released the Edge 40 Pro in April, and the Edge 40 a month later. Today, Motorola is expanding the Edge 40 series with the release of the Motorola Edge 40 Neo, which is less expensive than the others.
Display and Design
The display on this smartphone is a 6.55-inch 1080p 10-bit pOLED curved display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.
The screen has DCI-P3 colour coverage and a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits. It is HDR10+ certified and includes an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone boasts IP68 water and dust protection, which means it should be able to withstand submersion.
Software and Internals
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is powered by the Dimensity 7030 SoC and has 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
It has up to 256 GB of internal storage and comes with the latest Android 13 operating system, as well as compatibility for Moto Connect and Ready For features. Because there is no memory card slot, you will be limited to 256 GB of storage.
Cameras
Moving to the back of the handset, the camera module houses a flash as well as two sensors: a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide unit with a 120° field of view.
Notably, the ultrawide camera has focusing for taking stunning macro images. This camera can record 4K video at 30 frames per second. The 32MP selfie camera inside the punch-hole cutout can only record 1080p video.
Pricing and Battery
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the entire set, which is supplemented by 68W wired charging capability.
Motorola claims that the accompanying 68W power adapter can charge the phone from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes. The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is priced at €399 in Europe.
