Meta has announced the addition of a ChatGPT-like AI chatbot to its most popular social media platforms, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
Meta’s New AI Chatbot
The new chatbot, Meta AI, is powered by a ‘unique model’ that incorporates the company’s Llama 2 language model as well as its most recent large language model (LLM) research.
The Mark Zuckerberg-led business said in a statement regarding the new AI assistant, “We’re introducing Meta AI in beta, an advanced conversational assistant that’s available on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, and is coming to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3.
It can give you real-time information and generate photorealistic images from your text prompts in seconds to share with friends.”
Meta and Microsoft
Interestingly, the AI chatbot will be able to access real-time information from the internet straight away thanks to a connection with Microsoft Bing, and it will also have image generating capabilities similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 or Adobe’s Firefly.
In addition to the AI chatbot, the social media titan has revealed 28 AI chatbots. According to organization, these AIs will have more ‘personality, ideas, and interests’.
These AI bots, which will be embodied by various cultural celebrities and influencers such as artist Snoop Dogg and former Super Bowl winner Tom Brady, will be available to chat on Instagram and WhatsApp.
The new fantasy character-based bots have begun to roll out in the United States, and the organization claims it will soon add other characters played by celebrities such as Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, and Josh Richard.
Meta Introduced it’s New Firefly Style Image Editor
The social media behemoth is giving the Instagram app’s image editing an AI-powered update with two new features: Restyle and backdrop.
Users will be able to adjust the background of their photographs by entering simple prompts such as “put me in front of a sublime aurora borealis” or “surrounded by puppies.”
While Restyle will use text cues to assist users in changing the visual effects in their photographs.
