The new technology was announced by Facebook’s parent company at a New York event. According to it, Meta has announced a suite of AI-powered ad tools.

AI testing ground

During an event in New York, Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, announced a suite of products called AI Sandbox.

The new set of tools generates text and images for online advertisements using generative AI, or AI capable of creating content.

Currently, the feature is available to a small but unspecified number of advertisers. Other advertisers will be able to use the tool starting in July, and some of the features may be added to other advertising products by the end of 2023, according to it.

Despite the fact that Meta has not publicly announced AI Sandbox, the company has published a blog post on its website outlining other ad-related AI developments.

The company stated in the post that it is using a separate tool called Meta Lattice to improve ad performance, and that it will “further iterate” on that tool.

Meta is stepping up its AI efforts

During an earnings call in April, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted at advertising as well as other applications for AI.

During that call, Zuckerberg also mentioned that Facebook could or is already using AI in content discovery, customer support, and other areas. In March, Facebook’s LLaMA language model was leaked to the public, drawing attention to the company.

According to statements made earlier this month by a Google engineer, the code leak benefited the open-source community greatly.
