Facebook users can now connect their crypto wallets to the platform and share their NFTs, according to a new statement from Meta.

Meta is pushing forward with its NFT plans.
Facebook users will now be able to connect digital wallets to share their NFTs on the platform, according to the social media giant.
Meta previously announced plans to expand its Instagram NFT integration pilot to 100 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and both North and South America.
While the announcement today did not specify which blockchains or wallets would be supported, Facebook’s NFT integration will most likely be the same as Instagram’s.
If this is the case, Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and Dapper Wallet will all be able to connect, with accepted blockchains being Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow.
Meta did not specify whether the Facebook integration would be a test program or have the same reach as the Instagram program.
It also did not say whether Europe would be added to the list of supported continents or if other major NFT blockchains, such as Solana, would be integrated.
Though the statement did not mention any fee structures, based on the Instagram NFT program, it appears unlikely that any will be introduced.
When it rebranded itself to its new name last October, Meta declared that it would create its own Metaverse.
The move has been met with skepticism from the crypto community, with Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin claiming that Meta’s plans would “misfire” as “it’s far too early to know what people actually want [from a metaverse].
