London tech week, malaysia secures $1. 79 billion investments

During the investment mission to London Tech Week 2023 led by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysia secured MYR8.3 billion ($1.79 billion) in investment commitments in various digital technology sectors.

An international news agency reported that the minister said these investments would create no fewer than 1,800 high-value jobs at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the International Data Centre Authority (IDCA).

Different companies vowed for collaboration in London Tech Week

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and the UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) will also be working with MDEC.

Access Group, Dataswyft, TPP, Activpayroll, Ekco, Yondr Group, GBG, Hamilton Barnes, and MMOB were among the nine UK companies that made investment announcements alongside Sunway Group’s MoU with Wippd.

According to Fahmi, this demonstrates the foreign investors’ unwavering faith in the solid foundation of Malaysia Digital (MD), a national strategic effort driving the digital economy, and confirms that MD is headed in the correct direction.

Fahmi has also had a roundtable discussion with prominent business personalities and executives as part of the mission to talk about the MD project.

According to the article, he will also serve as a panellist on the “Global Tech Stage” session and deliver a keynote address titled “Opportunities in Asean” during London Tech Week 2023 on Tuesday evening.
