Sam Billings, an Englishman who plays wicketkeeper and bats for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has his sights set on lifting the league’s championship trophy. The player hailed Shahen Shah Afridi’s leadership abilities in an exclusive interview with Geo News in Islamabad.
What really impressed me was how fast he learned the rules. He has a lot on his plate, what with being the captain and a bowler at such a young age, but he’s doing it admirably. His demeanor is one of extreme coolness and composure.

Sam Billings 1st Time Played with Lahore Qalandars
Billings has played in PSL 1 and PSL 2 for Islamabad United, but this is his first time playing for Lahore and in Pakistan. The red-hot batsman has gushed about playing in Pakistan Super League matches at home.
“The grounds are good, nice wickets to bat on and you get such tremendous value with the outfields as well and what a team, it’s a great environment to be a part of,” he remarked about being in the Qalandars’ dugout and playing PSL in Pakistan.
After the last few years with COVID and everything, it is so fantastic to play in front of fans, and the support we’ve had has been incredible, especially since all of our games have been played in Lahore. The England cricketer stated, “Coming over here as a foreign player, you realise how much cricket means to the people over here.
In response to a query, Sam Billings remarked that the unique flavour of each franchise-based league is part of what makes them so appealing. Here in the States, it’s common to see bowlers with averages of 140 or more, sometimes even 150.
I can definitely hear the roar in terms of speed. In terms of quality and overall satisfaction, I would rank it among the very best. I just adore it,” remarked Billings regarding PSL.
Keeper Sam Billings once remarked that batting against Shaheen Shah Afridi is a lot more difficult than keeping wickets. I feel confident saying that about the vast majority of our bowling unit.

The wicketkeeper said that he had no personal objectives for PSL 2023, other than to help Lahore Qalandars win the championship. To win the PSL with Lahore Qalandars in 2023, he said when asked about his expectations for the upcoming season.
I don’t make many plans for myself. Since I am giving my all to the team, I don’t care if we win or lose. And that, he said, was the most crucial point.
