On Monday, Lahore and Karachi entered the top 10 list of cities with the worst air quality in the world.

Lahore was ranked sixth by IQ Air, while Karachi came in at number four, just below the cities of Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Dhaka in Bangladesh, and Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.

Particulate matter (PM) ratings of 183 and 170, respectively, for Karachi and Lahore, placing them in the “unhealthy” category of air quality.

If the AQI is less than 50, the United States Environmental Protection Agency considers the air quality to be good.

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has shut down 2,728 businesses, 1,759 brick kilns, and 12,197 cars to help with the haze until December 12.

According to a report issued by the authority on December 12 detailing the 547 persons who have been detained by the PDMA for environmental crimes.

According to reports, the city has 195 particulate meters of air pollution, making it the most polluted city in the world. Lahore was placed sixth.

Delhi placed second on the list of most polluted cities, according to the AQI, with 188 particulate meters, followed by Calcutta, India, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, in fourth place with 174 particle meters.

According to the categorization, air pollution between levels 151 and 200 is unhealthy, between levels, 201 and 300 is unhealthy, and beyond level 301 is hazardous if breathed.
