Again, budget problems have forced Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP to discontinue the Sehat Insaf card scheme, which provides free medical care to residents.

Health card enrollment has been temporarily halted by the government, effective immediately. However, patients in need of urgent care can still get these services with prior authorization.

KP is facing budget shortage

Administrative sources explained that the suspension of healthcare services was caused by a lack of funding. Notably, Rs. 21 million has been outstanding for almost a year, severely impeding the health initiative’s effective operation.

An additional Rs. 1 million installment was released by the government, but officials noted that the corresponding monies had not yet been received, further adding to the budgetary crunch. This circumstance has raised concerns among Sahat Insaf cardholders about their ability to obtain necessary medical care and emphasises the urgent need for stable funding to safeguard the program’s future.
