King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla’s coronation robes have been revealed for the first time ahead of the historic day on May 6.

They will be wearing the Robes of State and the Robes of Estate, two different sets of robes, during the Coronation Service in accordance with custom.
The traditional more individualized-looking robes of state and estate are worn before entering Westminster Abbey and upon leaving after the Coronation Service, respectively.
The new photos show the embroidery staff at the Royal School of Needlework preserving the robes that His Majesty will wear upon entering Westminster Abbey, The King’s Robe of State, and The Queen Consort’s Robe of Estate upon leaving Westminster Abbey following Her Majesty’s coronation.
In 2017, The Queen Consort took up the role of patronizing the Royal School of Needlework as the Duchess of Cornwall. On the day of the Coronation, all four garments will be visible in their entirety.
