Kia EV6 Electric Vehicle Is introduced in India

Kia has entered the electric car category with the award-winning EV6 in India. The EV6 is Kia’s first electric car in India, built on a specific electro-global modular platform (E-GMP). The vehicle is offered in two trim levels and costs INR 59.95 lakh for the base model and INR 64.95 lac for the top-spec AWD variant.

Kia will offer the EV6 through 15 dealerships in 12 locations after receiving 355 booking reservations. The dealerships would be outfitted with 150 kw fast chargers. Tae-Jin Park, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, stated during the unveiling that the firm will invest in expanding its footprint in the EV market.

Kia has already announced an investment of around USD 22.22 billion in its commercial operations over the next five years. A portion of this investment will go toward creating items for sale in India and establishing infrastructure. Park stated,

“We are fully capable of manufacturing EVs for India. The company is evaluating various battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for the Indian market. Kia also plans to bring an India-centric EV by 2025.”

Kia intends to provide multiple body types as part of its EV journey in India, catering to both mass market and premium segments. The firm will provide futuristic and sustainable BEVs built from the bottom up to provide an unparalleled in-cabin experience and long-range to alleviate range concern. Park went on to say:

“Our EV announcement for the country which includes an India-centric BEV in RV body type to be launched in 2025, is a testament to our commitment towards India and our new-age Indian customers by providing them with a sheer electric performance in the future.”
