Islamabad United won their third game of the season, steamrolling past Karachi Kings. Due to their superior run rate, Islamabad moved up to second place in the PSL points standings, while Karachi Kings remain at the bottom after their fifth consecutive loss.
On a slow surface at the National Stadium Karachi, Islamabad United was not at their best, as the openers labored for runs. Not due to a lack of effort, but because to some smart bowling by Karachi pacers, Paul Stirling and Alex Hales were subdued.
Captain Shadab Khan came in and boosted the scoring rate with some clean hitting before Azam Khan batted in and brought the total to 177/6.
Karachi got off to the worst possible start, losing Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam for pennies on the dollar. The rest of the batting lineup struggled as well, with Shadab Khan picking up four wickets to limit the Karachi batsmen. They were eventually bowled out for 110 runs, losing the match by seven runs.
For his outstanding all-round effort, Shadab Khan was chosen player of the match. In his four overs, he scored 34 runs off 19 balls and had statistics of 4/15.
