On Saturday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a rainfall forecast for many Sindh cities, including Karachi.

The Met Office reports that light rain was observed in numerous locations in Karachi last night. More rain is anticipated in several regions of the port city tonight.

According to the meteorological service, rain is anticipated to fall in the Karachi from September 18 (Monday) evening through September 20 (Wednesday).

Additionally, till September 20, significant rain is expected in a number of Punjabi cities. Rain is also anticipated in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir, Malakand, and Muzaffarabad are all expected to see significant rains.

On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned of the risk of flooding in rivers and landslides in the hilly areas of Murree due to heavy rain.

Earlier in its press release, the weather advisory stated that “moderate monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate in upper parts of the country from 15th (evening/night)”.

A westerly wave was also likely to enter the country on September 16, the Met Office said earlier.

From September 17 to September 19, local Nullahs and streams in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galliyat, Murree, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad may see moderate to heavy rainfall.

During the rainy spell from September 16 to September 19, the weather service warned that moderate to heavy rainfall could cause landslides in the prone regions of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

During the spell, the current extremely hot and humid conditions are likely to break.
