Theft and pickpocketing have been on the rise at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, according to recent reports. Airport officials responded by posting warning posters around the terminal, advising passengers and tourists to remain vigilant.
Thefts of personal property have been reported in the lobby, the waiting area, and the parking lot. Additionally, there have been cases of theft at the airport including the provision of candies and foodstuffs to unsuspecting victims. However, no one has been apprehended in connection with these incidents.
Karachi authorities hung banners
Banners were erected by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to advise tourists and passengers to watch their belongings. These signs warn of pickpockets and urge people to take precautions to protect their goods.
But CAA got called out on Twitter and had to take down the banners from the three spots it had chosen outside the international arrivals area. Users voiced their disgust, pointing out that the banners gave a bad impression of Jinnah International Airport and made passengers feel unwelcome.
