The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) reported to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) that the floodlights at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad do not meet FIFA and AFC standards.

This information came after PFF inspections on May 3 and May 18, which revealed that the illumination is inadequate for international matches.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier

Due to the poor conditions, the next FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier versus KSA, planned for June 6, could have to be shifted. To prevent this, the PFF has right away asked PSB to enhance the stadium’s floodlights.

They need to make sure that these improvements are carried out immediately.

And then notify FIFA and the AFC that the stadium serves all the requirements.

Pakistan’s football squad presently sits at the bottom of Group G. They have key matches lined up against Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan in early June.

Having the matches at a fully built stadium is vital for the club as they strive to improve their standings.

Favorable impact on Pakistan

The PFF’s request for swift action stresses the value of upholding good standards for sports infrastructure in Pakistan.

Upgrading the floodlights at Jinnah Stadium will guarantee that the players.

That have the optimal playing settings and the stadium remains an appealing location for international events.

This endeavour will also have a favourable impact on Pakistan’s ability to host major athletic events, encouraging future international matches to be hosted in the country.
