According to Syed Aminul Haque, the federal minister for information technology and telecommunication, the government is consistently implementing broadband, optical fiber communication (OFC), and other connection projects for Sindh’s urban and rural areas without making any distinctions.
He claimed in a formal announcement that a broadband project for more than 15,000 people in 19 villages of Gwadar, costing Rs. 188.1 million, had been authorized.
The completion of these projects, according to the minister, would provide Baloch and Sindh inhabitants who live in unserved, underserved, and distant locations the chance to not only connect with the online world but also use it to their advantage in running their companies and meeting other demands.
On Friday, the Universal Service Fund (USF) Board authorized the minister’s instructions to grant Telenor and Ufone two contracts totaling around Rs. 1.06 billion for the unserved and underserved areas in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh.
Omar Malik, a member of the Telecom MoITT, Kaukab Iqbal, the chairman of the Consumer Association of Pakistan, Imran Akhtar Shah, vice president of Super Net Pvt. Ltd., and top USF management also attended the board meeting.
