IT Ministry requests budget of Rs. 24.25 bn for FY24

For 47 projects in the forthcoming fiscal year 2023–2024, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has requested a budget of Rs. 24.25 billion (FY24).

The MoITT has requested Rs. 20.877 billion for 34 ongoing projects and Rs. 3.372 billion for 13 new projects in the upcoming fiscal year, according to documents made available on a local blog website.

The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has sought a total of Rs. 5.764 billion for 10 current and 6 new projects, and the National Information Technology Board (NITB) has requested Rs. 1.891 billion for 5 continuing projects. The NITB has not received any new project proposals for the fiscal year 2023–2024.

A further Rs. 3.022 billion was asked by the MoITT for the Pakistan Software Export Board’s (PSEB) 9 ongoing and 4 new projects.  Additionally, it requested Rs. 8.031 billion for four active projects in the primary ministry.

For three ongoing projects, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has requested an additional Rs. 440 million.

The Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology has received a request from MoITT for Rs. 175.409 million.

For the Virtual University Lahore, an additional Rs. 18.404 billion has been requested.

The ministry also hopes to get Rs. 16.979 billion for three brand-new NTC projects and Rs. 1.422 billion for one continuing National Telecommunication and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) project.
