On Monday, a delegation from the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) met with Syed Aminul Haque, the federal minister of information technology, to discuss matters of mutual interest and the expansion of cooperation between Pakistan and the OIC in the area of information and communication technologies (ICT).
The IT Minister praised OIC’s efforts to encourage the digital economy and transformation in all of its member nations.
“The information technology field plays a very important and vital role in the economic development of the nation. The Government is taking dynamic measures to propagate the knowledge-based economy in the country and also taking along the ICT sector to increase the IT exports, due to which the IT exports of Pakistan have doubled in the last three years, he added.
According to him, Pakistan ranks second globally in terms of the financial importance of offshore outsourcing services.
“We are keen to further strengthen the country’s strategic partnership with OIC. It is demanded from OIC to cooperate with Pakistan with respect to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Robotics, and Cloud services,” said IT Minister Aminul Haque.
The OIC delegation expressed its appreciation for Pakistan’s actions and praised them for helping to advance and spread the information technology and telecommunications industries.
