Iran imposed penalties on Thursday against several American and British individuals and entities for supporting Israel in its conflict with the Palestinians.

US Navy’s 5th Fleet

Iran, a longtime opponent of Israel, detailed the retaliatory measures in a statement issued by its foreign ministry.

The sanctions target seven Americans, including General Bryan P. Fenton, chief of the US Special Operations Command, and Admiral Brad Cooper, former commander of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

British people and businesses facing sanctions include Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, leader James Hockenhull, and the UK Royal Navy in the Red Sea.

Furthermore, sanctions have been imposed on US corporations Lockheed Martin and Chevron, as well as their British equivalents Elbit Systems, Parker Meggitt, and Rafael UK.

Blocking Accounts

The sanctions entail actions such as blocking accounts and transactions in the Iranian financial and banking systems, freezing assets under Iranian jurisdiction, and restricting visa issuance and entry into Iranian territory.

Iran’s move emphasises its condemnation of support for Israel in its conflict with the Palestinians, as well as its determination to take punitive measures against those perceived to be aiding Israel.
