The federal government has announced Thursday, November 9, as a national holiday in honor of Iqbal Day.
Iqbal Day Will Be A Public Holiday
“November 9, Thursday, will be a public holiday across the country,” the Cabinet Division announced on Friday.
However, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal, November 9 is marked as “Iqbal Day” throughout the country. This year marks the 146th anniversary of his birth.
He was influential in persuading millions of Muslims throughout the subcontinent to seek an independent country where they may freely practice Islam.
Additionally, the day would begin with special prayers in mosques for Pakistan’s success and prosperity.
He was renowned as the “Poet of the East” in Pakistan and elsewhere, was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877.
A Great Thinker and Philosopher
Furthermore, he was a well-known poet and philosopher. He is recognized with creating poetry and using his political clout to advocate for the establishment of a separate nation for Muslims.
His speech at Allahabad in 1930 was a watershed point in pre-partition politics.
However, his speech provided Muslims on the subcontinent with a clear direction and distinct identity in their pursuit of Pakistan.
Moreover, a ceremony to change the guards will also be place at his mausoleum in Lahore.
