Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi issued an order on 9 January 2026 for strict screening of travel documents at all airports in Pakistan. This decision aims to curb illegal immigration human smuggling and fraudulent travel documents. The order was announced during a performance review meeting of the Federal Investigation Agency’s Immigration Wing. The meeting emphasized the importance of protecting Pakistan’s international reputation.
Purpose of the Order
The main objective is to ensure that passengers with valid and complete travel documents face no difficulties while those carrying fraudulent or fake documents are identified and stopped. The measure is also aimed at preventing illegal activities at airports and safeguarding Pakistan’s image globally.
Implementation of Strict Screening
Strict screening means immigration officers will carefully verify passports visas tickets and travel histories. Passengers with fake altered or incomplete documents will be barred from international travel. FIA has also been directed to monitor and take action against criminal networks and illegal agents involved in document fraud.
Genuine Travellers Will Not Be Affected
Authorities have clarified that genuine travellers with complete and valid documents will not be stopped. The strict screening process only applies to suspicious fraudulent or incomplete documentation. This ensures minimal inconvenience for legitimate passengers.
Action Against Criminal Networks
The Interior Minister has also ordered strict action against illegal immigration mafias and professional beggar syndicates. These groups are often involved in illegal activities at airports and public spaces. The crackdown is part of the broader effort to dismantle these networks.
Enforcement and Future Measures
The order became effective on 9 January 2026. Enforcement will be led by the FIA Immigration Wing. Senior officials including the Federal Interior Secretary and FIA Director General are overseeing uniform implementation at all airports. The government is also planning AI based mobile apps and automated e gates to further speed up immigration checks and improve fraud detection.
