Intel Roadmap reveals next-generation chips to compete with Apple M1 processors

When it comes to processors, the battle between Apple and Intel has become more intense than ever in recent years. While Apple has presided as the superior competitor while eating into Intel’s market share, Santa Clara-based Intel appears to be working on energy-efficient processors to reclaim its position this time.

A leaked Intel roadmap has surfaced online, according to WCCFTech. According to the roadmap, the company is working on Intel 15th Gen CPUs known as Arrow Lake.

This roadmap also shows how the semi-conductor behemoth intends to surpass the Cupertino-based company in mobile processors.

To achieve its goal, the company will work with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer.

According to reports, the two will pool their resources to support the latter’s advanced 3nm process node technology.

It’s also worth noting that TSMC is Apple’s primary chip supplier. In addition, the new Arrow Lake processors are expected to include multiple cores to improve performance and efficiency.

In other words, similar to mobile chip architecture, next-generation laptops may be able to perform lighter tasks while consuming less power.

While this indicates that Intel is taking Apple more seriously as a competitor, it appears that it is still lagging behind the iPhone maker for the time being.

This roadmap shows a late 2023 launch, but Apple already has three M1 chip variants available to customers. Furthermore, Apple is working on the next generation successors to these chips. As a result, Intel’s new chip may still be catching up to future Apple silicon.
