Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, shared news on Thursday. Meta will show AI characters on Instagram. Creators will use Meta AI studio. Tests start in the U.S.
This news came the same day as Character.AI’s update. The chatbot company lets users talk with AI avatars by call.
Zuckerberg posted on his channel about these chatbots. He said they will have clear AI labels.
“In the U.S., we will test our AI studio. Soon, you may see AIs from favorite creators. Interest-based AIs will also appear. For now, they will show in messaging. They will have clear AI labels,” he said.
“It is early. The AIs are in the first beta version. We will improve them. Soon, more people will get them,” Zuckerberg added.
Zuckerberg mentioned working with some creators. Wasted, a meme account, and tech creator Don Allen Stevenson III helped. They made early versions of the chatbots.

Zuckerberg talked more in an interview. He said AI avatars need many different APIs. These should reflect different interests. He wants to enable every creator to use AI. Small businesses will use AI too. This will help them interact with their community. For businesses, it helps them talk to customers.
Creators want to use AIs to talk with fans. They do not have time to answer all messages now.
Zuckerberg said making good AI avatars will be an “art form.” It will evolve over time.
“We do not know yet what will be most engaging. Also, we want to give tools to experiment. We will see what works well,” he said.
Meta will first test the feature with 50 creators. A small group of users will join too. Then, more people will get it in the next months. Meta hopes to launch it fully by August.
Meta first shared about its AI studio last year. They announced it at their developer conference. The AI studio lets businesses build custom chatbots.
