For disclosing sensitive intelligence concerning northern border operations to a member of the Pakistani embassy in New Delhi, an Indian military court has sentenced the soldier to ten years in prison.
According to defense officials, an Indian commander presided over the military trial that resulted in the soldier being sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in prison for leaking classified information to a Pakistani. The soldier was corresponding with a Pakistani national working at the Pakistani High Commission in the Indian capital, identified only as “Naik Abid.”
The Indian soldier leaked crucial infromation
The soldier gave him access to a variety of records. Information on his formation’s activities and his guard duty schedule were included in these papers. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he also made an effort to report on the vehicles used by the formation and their whereabouts.
Despite what the press has reported, the soldier did not have access to a plethora of details. However, the sentence will not become final until it has been approved by the proper higher authorities.
