India continued their fantastic form in the ICC World Cup 2023, defeating Pakistan by seven wickets on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India’s Fantastic Form

Rohit Sharma, who scored 140 against Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup, showed off his batting skills once more, scoring 86 off 63 balls to lead the winning side. His quick knock contained 12 boundaries.

Other than the 36-year-old, Shreyas Iyer was the winning team’s second highest run-scorer, with 53 runs.

Dominance Of Indian Batsmen

The Indian batters’ dominant batting performance helped the home team reach the 192-run target in the 31st over, with 118 balls to spare, significantly improving their net run rate (NRR).

This was India’s eighth World Cup victory in as many matches against their arch-rivals.

The day belonged to the Indians, who dismantled Pakistan’s batting and restricted them to 191 runs in the first innings, with all five of their key bowlers — Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya — taking two wickets each.

With the exception of Babar Azam (50), Mohammad Rizwan (49), Imam-ul-Haq (36) and Abdullah Shafique (20), none of the batters provided significant resistance with the bat, as the entire side was dismissed for 191 runs.

The Men in Green were 155-2 when they suffered a major collapse, losing eight wickets for 36 runs.

Pakistan’s middle order, which included Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan, failed to reach double figures.

India has now won three consecutive World Cup matches, and their next match is against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19, while the Green Shirts face Australia in Bengaluru on October 20.

The next three matches for Babar Azam’s Pakistan are against Australia, Afghanistan, and the dominant South Africa, with the latter two taking place on the tricky Chennai wicket.
