In Pakistan, 11th generation Toyota Corolla turns eight years old

In Pakistan, the 11th generation Toyota Corolla has officially turned eight years old. This generation was introduced by Indus Motor Company (IMC) in July 2014, so by July 2022, it will have officially entered its 9th year of production in the country.

Prior to the introduction of this generation, the Altis was the top grade in locally assembled 9th and 10th generation Corolla models.

However, with the 11th generation Corolla, a new flagship variant called Grande was introduced, which was actually the highest-spec version among all Altis variants.

Only 1.8L Altis and Altis Grande variants were introduced in July 2014, with lower-spec 1.3L variants including XLi and GLi following a month later in August 2014.

The 11th generation Toyota Corolla variants were priced as follows when they were released in July 2014:

The 1.3L XLi and GLi models were added to the lineup later in August 2014. They were priced as follows:

Then, in November 2014, IMC introduced the 1.6L AT variant, which was priced at PKR 1,972,000/-.

Toyota Corolla was the best-selling sedan in Pakistan long before local assembly began in 1993. Then, in 2009 (during the reign of the 10th generation Corolla), it surpassed the Suzuki Mehran to become the country’s best-selling vehicle.

When the 11th generation Corolla model was introduced, things went from good to exceptional. IMC was able to sell more than 50,000 units of the 11th generation Corolla for five consecutive years, a feat that no other car and no previous Corolla generation model had previously accomplished.

The 11th generation model also contributed to Pakistan becoming Corolla’s fourth largest market globally and the largest in the Asia Pacific region.
