Prime Minister Imran Khan will remain in office until a caretaker Prime Minister is appointed, according to a statement released by the President House on Monday.
President Dr. Arif Alvi has already endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recommendation to dissolve the National Assembly under Article 58 (1) of the Constitution, read with Article 48(1) of the Constitution.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan, leader of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf, claimed the caretaker government would be constituted in a few days.
He added in a statement that all political parties should now begin preparing for future elections.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier in the day stated that a foreign intrusion into Pakistan’s internal affairs had occurred, as a plan for a no-confidence motion had been planned from the outside.
He was speaking to leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Islamabad. According to the Prime Minister, during the National Security Committee meeting, it was also emphasized that foreign involvement in the country’s internal politics was made through a no-confidence resolution.
The Prime Minister stated that minutes of a meeting between Pakistan’s ambassador in the United States and US officials were disclosed during the NSC meeting.
He stated that US embassy personnel were also in contact with the defected PTI members.
In response to his declaration earlier in the day, Imran Khan stated that the opposition was in shock and didn’t know what had happened to them.
