Hundreds of school principals caught cheating on promotion exams

The School Education Department (SED) of Punjab has revoked the results of hundreds of Headmasters’ promotion exams after they were caught red-handed cheating.

According to details, the SED’s Chief Adviser Curriculum Wing has cancelled the results of 650 Headmasters for using illegal means to pass the promotion exams.

Following a thorough investigation, Chief Adviser Curriculum Wing determined that officials from the Provincial Institute for Teacher Education (PITE) were negligent in ensuring fairness in the promotion exams.

The incident was blamed on two Deputy Directors, a Director, and three other officers, according to the investigation. The Chief Adviser Curriculum Wing has directed that these officers appear before Secretary SED Ghulam Akbar Leghari on January 11th.

Separately, the Punjab government decided last month to hire approximately 25,000 teachers to fill vacant positions in government schools across the province.

During a meeting of the provincial cabinet, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab made the decision. The decision was made at the request of Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
