More than a month remains till the release of iOS 17. On the other hand, we have been using the public beta version for quite some time. The ability to easily exchange passwords with loved ones is one of iOS 17’s most exciting new features.
Unfortunately, there are still situations in which sharing a password is necessary, such as when using an Amazon account to set up an Echo with a family member. This is a useful feature because it reduces the risk associated with randomly sharing passwords. How to share iPhone passwords with loved ones is outlined below.
Prerequisites:
- You need to be using the iOS 17 beta software.
- Your iPhone needs to be set up to use iCloud Keychain.
- Your contacts must also be using the iOS 17 beta and have iCloud Keychain turned on in order for you to exchange passwords with them.
Here’s how it’s done:
- Launch the iPhone’s Settings menu.
- Select the Passwords option.
- Select the Family Passwords tab from the menu bar.
- Family Passwords banner won’t appear? Create a new shared group by tapping the plus sign in the upper right.
- Give your collaborative group a name, and then click Continue.
- Select Add People and then input the contacts you wish to add as password share recipients.
- Your invited friends will get a message or email with a link to join your group.
- Once they are a part of your shared group, they will have access to every password you’ve made public to the group.
- Passwords should only be given out to persons you can fully trust. You can stop anyone from using a shared password at any moment by removing them from the group.
How is it that the password is protected? iCloud Keychain has a full two-way encryption system. Although the password is shown in plain text, only those who know the password can read it.
