How to Check PTA Approved Status of Smartphones
All buyers must ensure that smartphones are approved by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to avoid falling victim to scams. Guidelines have recently been issued by the PTA for checking the status of new or second-hand phones purchased from the local market.
To prevent fraud, the following guidelines should be followed:
- Expensive devices should not be bought at suspiciously low prices or without a warranty.
- A box-packed mobile device should always be purchased.
- The PTA stamp on the box should be checked in the presence of the shop owner.
- The IMEI on the box should be confirmed to match the IMEI on the phone.

Through SMS
The IMEI should be typed in a message and sent to 8484.
