Google Meet’s many helpful features allow for more efficient and effective meetings. The ability to freeze the video feed of everyone in the room is one such function. The feature provides meeting hosts with additional discretion in running their meetings by allowing them to choose the conditions under which attendees can participate.
In order to prohibit attendees from filming the meeting with their own cameras, the meeting host or co-host can enable Camera Lock. When Camera Lock is disabled, participants can once again access their individual video feeds during the meeting. You and your co-hosts are unaffected by Camera Lock and can continue to utilize your video equipment normally. You can activate Camera Lock from any PC or iOS device, and it will take effect on all devices in the meeting. Please note that after a participant’s video has been locked, they will no longer be able to share their screen or make presentations.
Important considerations before locking down participant footage
- If a mobile participant’s device doesn’t have the following when you activate Video Lock, they may be kicked out of the meeting:
- Android OS, version M or later, and the most recent versions of the Meet and Gmail apps.
- iOS 12.1 or later.
- Participants who were previously deleted can re-join once Video Lock is disabled.
Methods for preventing video from playing during a Google Meet call
- First, during the current meeting, navigate to the screen’s lower right corner.
- The second step is to access Host Controls.
- Third, a panel will open on the side after this.
- Now from the side panel you may turn off and also switch on the video feeds of all the people present in the call.
