Eric Perez spoke to Newsday. He was putting groceries in his car, as he heard a speeding car and then a shattering noise. He had never heard that sound before.

Perez and his wife were leaving the parking lot. He saw emergency crews helping victims, and saw an ambulance. Eric added that he saw emergency workers pull out a body and two women on stretchers.

Suffolk County police did not respond to emails for information.

About 150 firefighters and medical workers came to the minivan crash. Albanese called the crash horrible. He said it would be tough for the community. The volunteer fire department would struggle too. But he said they would get through it.
