The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan officially launched the Maktab system on 27 January 2026. The launch was announced by the Federal Minister of State for Federal Education, Wajiha Qamar, during a press briefing in Islamabad. What is the Maktab System
Maktab is a centralized digital academic record management system developed under the HEC framework. It is designed to maintain complete digital records of students, including enrolment details, semester-wise grades, transcripts, and degree issuance records. Through this system, a student’s entire academic journey from admission to graduation will be stored and managed on a single secure platform.

The primary objective of launching Maktab is to eliminate manual and paper-based record keeping and replace it with a transparent, efficient, and reliable digital system.
