Government guaranteed to be 2 IT parks of Rs18 billion

Under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2024–2025, the government has allotted more than Rs. 18.718 billion.

IT park in Karachi

For the construction of an IT park in Karachi and the Technology Park Development Project (TDP) in Islamabad.

Islamabad’s Technology Park

It is anticipated that Islamabad’s Technology Park will function as a cutting-edge establishment that promotes cooperation, creativity, and product creation.

It will serve as a conduit to promote unity among academics, researchers, businesspeople, and planners from Pakistan and outside.

Primary Focus On Commercialization

With a primary focus on the commercialization of knowledge through innovation management, business support services, entrepreneurship promotion, and consulting, the park will play a major role in knowledge and resource management.

Pakistan Software Export Board

Furthermore, it will give IT companies registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) much-needed IT-enabled office space and facilities.

The IT Park in Karachi is expected to play a major role in generating employment and entrepreneurial prospects, particularly for young people.

The PSDP claims that the government has also allotted Rs. 28,929 million for the fiscal year to the Information Technology and Telecom Division’s new and current programs.

Of this total amount, Rs. 5,394 million has been set aside for five new initiatives and Rs. 23,535 million has been designated for 16 continuing schemes.

Notable Funding Allocations

Notable funding allocations from the ongoing programs included Rs. 1000 million for Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan (NTISB).

Rs. 300 million for the Smart Office Federal Ministries Department (NITB), and Rs. 2000 million for Prime Minister’s Initiatives: Support for IT Startups, Specialised IT Training, and Venture Capital (IGNITE & PSEB).

National Semiconductor HR Development

Rs. 800 million is designated for the National Semiconductor HR Development Programme (NSHRDP) Phase-I (IT Wing), Rs. 3500 million for the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (WB. Funded).

(MoITT/BoI/NITB/NADRA), Rs. 194 million for the Expansion of Cellular Services in AJK and GB Phase-IV (SCO), and Rs. 800 for the Revamping IT Industry Landscape (PSEB).
