Microsoft has been actively integrating AI capabilities into Bing, somewhat surprising Google. On the other hand, is not one to be left behind, and it has ambitious AI and search initiatives of its own. A significant portion of these plans were recently accidentally revealed.
Google’s AI Function
According to The Wall Street Journal, Google plans to introduce its own AI chatbot to web search, following in Microsoft’s footsteps.
They hopes to improve the personalization and diversity of search results by including short videos and social media posts in addition to the traditional list of links.
The information presented here is based on leaked internal documents. These documents outline Google’s plans to make search more “visual,” “snackable,” and “human.”
While these buzzwords may be interpreted differently, the majority of the proposed changes will most likely be implemented this year.
The rumored name of Google’s conversational AI bot, Magi, corresponds to what was previously mentioned in a New York Times article. Magi’s development has accelerated in recent weeks, matching the ChatGPT-powered AI bot found in Bing.
The upcoming search redesign is expected to be unveiled at I/O 2023, with major announcements planned for Wednesday, May 10. Although it has already introduced its Bard chatbot, its integration into other products is still in the works.
The primary goal is to help users discover results and obtain answers that they might not normally find using the current search interface.
In the coming months, we can expect to hear a lot from Google about AI advancements and new search methodologies.
