Google provides a closer look at the Pixel Tablet

We’ve known about the Pixel Tablet since Google I/O. It was one of three upcoming hardware devices announced by the company.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch will be available soon. Those hoping for the company’s next attempt at a tablet, on the other hand, will have to wait until next year.

The news device is intended to be the final major component of the Pixel family. Naturally, the system is powered by Android and includes Material You. According to the company, it has collaborated with a number of key developers to design apps specifically for the larger screen. Everything is powered by the same Tensor G2 chip that was announced for the new Pixel 7.

The most notable addition is a new charging speaker dock. As the company points out, tablets spend roughly 80% of their time at home, so the accessory is effectively designed to double as a large Next Hub while charging.

The system magnetically docks to the dock, which is designed to match the rest of the Home/Nest line. It’s a clever addition that effectively fills the roles of two key members of the Google hardware family.

The company promises a better look at the Pixel Tablet closer to its launch in 2022.
