Ghee and cooking oil prices are expected to skyrocket

The Punjab administration expects a significant increase in the price of ghee and cooking oil as a result of unscrupulous individuals in the province hoarding the commodity.

This was indicated in a letter sent to all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners in Punjab by the Directorate General Industries Punjab.

To keep ghee and cooking oil costs in check, the Punjab government has planned to undertake stocktakes across the province.

According to the Directorate General Industries Punjab, ghee and cooking oil costs are on the rise as a result of rising palm oil prices on the international market, as well as other considerations.

Prices of ghee and cooking oil are projected to rise in the coming days.

There’s a good risk that unscrupulous elements will try to take advantage of the situation by hoarding. As a result, the availability of stock with dealers/stockists, as well as the supply chain and price situation, should be regularly monitored.

Ghee mill areas have also been instructed to keep a check on stock levels in ghee mills. Furthermore, any large mass transfer/transactions should be validated to prevent attempts to defraud the general population.
