Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the launch of the “Rehmat Card” scheme to provide financial assistance to widows and orphaned children across the province. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the chief minister.
Financial Assistance for Beneficiaries
Under the scheme, each eligible widow will receive Rs100,000, while every orphaned child will be granted Rs25,000. This financial support aims to help vulnerable families meet essential needs and improve their living standards.
Launch Schedule and Initial Coverage
Officials confirmed that the Rehmat Card project will be formally launched shortly after Eid. In its first phase, the initiative is expected to support over 50,000 deserving families across Punjab.
Application Process for Applicants
Eligible citizens can apply for the Rehmat Card through multiple channels, including a mobile application, web portal, call centre, or by visiting offices of the Zakat and Ushr Department. Registration is available at any nearby department office in Punjab.

Chief Minister’s Adviser on Zakat and Ushr, Rashid Nasrullah, briefed Maryam Nawaz Sharif about the Rehmat Card project. The CM emphasized that the scheme not only provides immediate support but also encourages widows to move toward self-employment.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the government considers it its responsibility to support widows and vulnerable families. She added that every citizen has a rightful share in Punjab’s resources and that the government is committed to ensuring assistance reaches those who deserve it.

The chief minister highlighted that Punjab is a province where every individual is cared for through welfare initiatives. At the same time, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb noted the government’s focus on industrial growth, engaging with business communities and industrialists to promote development.

During consultations at the FPCCI Regional Office, the senior minister discussed industrialization strategies, emphasizing coordination with industrialists and officials, including Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, to boost provincial economic growth alongside welfare initiatives.
