The reduction in consumer gas sale prices has been authorised by the Economic Coordination Committee, with instructions to further lower the gas costs for the export and non-export industries.
The committee also approved the continuation of the distribution of subsidised Atta under the Prime Minister’s Sasta Atta Initiative on 1200 additional sale points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the current and following month at its meeting on Thursday in Islamabad, which was presided over by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.
A summary of urgent recommendations for the award of the second international wheat tender 2022, which was launched on the first of this month for 500,000 metric tonnes, was presented by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Following debate, the ECC decided to cancel the bids and instructed Trading Corporation of Pakistan to announce a new bid for the purchase of 300,000 MT of wheat.
On the Prime Minister’s instructions, a committee made up of the Ministers of Commerce, National Food Security & Research, and Finance has also been established to determine the country’s real wheat needs.
The ECC approved the granting of a 10 billion rupee sovereign guarantee from the GoP for the building of two units of 660 MW Super Coal Power Projects based on a summary of the Power Division.
