The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested seven persons in Multan on suspicion of running a scam that offered to pay participants to travel to the United Kingdom (UK). Imran Ansari, Muhammad Yasin, Muhammad Ijaz, Naeem Iqbal, Uzman Bhatti, Muhammad Imran, and Touseef Sabir were all captured after a successful operation led by Sardar Adil Gopang and the FIA Multan squad.
The suspects were discovered to have conducted fraudulent job interviews for the United Kingdom and had stolen thousands of pounds from their victims. It has been established by FIA officials that these people did not have the proper authorisation to behave in this manner.
Illegal travel to UK and Greece
The FIA moved quickly, filing a criminal case under the Emigration Ordinance of 1979 against the defendants to ensure that justice would be done.
The FIA also arrested a human smuggler in connection with the unfortunate occurrence on the boat headed for Greece in a separate investigation. Muhammad Naeem, the victim, paid the smuggler, Muhammad Azam, Rs. 1.2 million in ransom. Azam enticed Naeem to travel to Europe illegally by promising him a job and then arranging his passage through Libya. Naeem tragically drowned in a ferry tragedy on the treacherous crossing.
With the arrest of Azam in Gujrat, the FIA has exposed the seedy underbelly of human smuggling activities and hopes to bring those involved to justice.
